Earlier this year, Facebook allowed President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign to post a baseless ad about Joe Biden on its platform. That was the cause of criticism over the company’s ad policies. Twitter also responded towards this issue.Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey declared via a tweet thread that his company would be moving to ban all political ads regardless of being true or false. This change in policy will be applicable from 22 November onwards. But Snapchat has something else in mind. They want to occupy an interim position between Facebook and twitter. It can be clarified by the statement of Evan Spiegel given to CNBC. He said that we are striving to form a place on our Snapchat platform for political advertisement which will be based on factual data. It is because we reach so many young people and first-time voters. And Snapchat wants them to be able to engage with the political conversation. So that political awareness would come. But anything like misinformation and false news won’t be tolerated by the company.
